Contento Canines – Terms & Conditions of Service

By booking any service with Contento Canines, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Payment & Travel Fees

• Full payment is required before or on the day of the scheduled service.

• Travel fees apply as follows:

  • $30 for behaviour assessments, 1–1 sessions, our Puppy Program, and Breed-For-Me consultations conducted outside a 20km radius of the Contento Canines servicing area (Tea Tree Gully).

  • $30 for Walk & Train services conducted outside a 15km radius of Wynn Vale.

• Pre-paid packages (including the Contento Pups Program) should be used within 6 months of purchase unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2. Cancellations & Rescheduling

• A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling. Notice must be made via text message or phone call.

• Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice may incur the full session fee.

• Emergencies or unforeseen circumstances will be considered at Contento Canines’ discretion and may allow rescheduling without penalty.

• Sessions may be shortened if the client arrives late.

• Contento Canines reserves the right to reschedule sessions with less than 24 hours notice when the weather is deemed unsuitable/unsafe for training purposes. In the instance of forecasted temperatures of 30 degrees or above, rain, thunder, and strong winds, sessions may be rescheduled. Contento Canines will do their best to reschedule to a more suitable time on the same day, otherwise sessions will be rescheduled to the next available day.

3. Client Responsibilities & Behaviour Disclosure

• Owners must disclose any behavioural history, including reactivity, aggression, lunging, growling, or any previous attacks or bites involving dogs or humans.

• All information provided about the dog must be accurate and true.

• Owners agree to follow all training instructions, safety protocols, and homework plans provided by Contento Canines.

4. Health, Vaccinations & Suitability

• Dogs must be in good health and free from contagious conditions to participate in training.

• Dogs should be up to date with vaccinations, or the owner must advise Contento Canines otherwise.

• Contento Canines reserves the right to refuse or postpone service if a dog appears unwell, unsafe, or unsuitable for the training environment.

5. Safety Requirements

• Dogs must arrive on lead and remain under control at all times unless instructed otherwise by a trainer.

• Owners are responsible for ensuring their dog does not approach other dogs, people, or animals without permission.

• Contento Canines decides whether a training environment is safe and appropriate for off-lead work.

6. Acknowledgement of Risk

• Dog training involves physical activity for both dogs and humans.

• By participating in training, owners accept that there is a risk of:

  • Scratches, knocks, or minor injuries

  • Dogs pulling or reacting unpredictably

  • Environmental hazards during outdoor sessions

• Owners are responsible for supervising any children present during sessions.

7. Indemnity & Liability

• Owners accept full responsibility for the behaviour, actions, and welfare of their dog at all times during and after training.

• Contento Canines, its staff, and contractors are not liable for:

  • Injury or damage caused by the client’s dog

  • Injury sustained by the owner, family members, or third parties during training

  • Property damage caused by the dog

• Owners agree to indemnify and hold harmless Contento Canines against all claims, costs, or damages arising from:

  • The dog’s behaviour

  • The owner’s failure to follow instructions

  • Pre-existing behavioural issues

  • Actions taken by the owner or dog outside training sessions.

8. No Guarantee of Outcomes

• Training results vary between dogs based on genetics, temperament, environment, past experiences, and owner consistency.

• Progress depends heavily on owner commitment and consistent practice of the training strategies provided.

9. Emergency Veterinary Care

• In an emergency during a training session, Contento Canines may seek veterinary assistance if required.

• Reasonable attempts will be made to contact the owner beforehand where possible.

• All veterinary costs are the responsibility of the owner.

• Owners are responsible for any medical costs if their dog causes injury to a trainer, another person, or another animal.

10. Photos, Video & Media Use

• Photos or video may be taken during training sessions for educational and review purposes.

• Contento Canines may request permission to use images or footage of your dog for social media, website, or marketing.

• We will only publish identifiable images or footage of you or your dog with your consent, which may be collected via our intake or consent forms.

11. Privacy

• Contento Canines collects personal information (such as name, address, phone number, and email) solely for service delivery, communication, and safety.

• Your information will not be sold, shared, or disclosed to third parties except where required by law.

• Clients may request access to, or deletion of, their personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
